All over the world, people are leaving their rural lives behind to move to cities. As cities grow and become more and more crowded, problems of congestion and mobility mount, and competition for limited space increases, the relevance of urbanism as a discipline is growing. The Urbanism Track at Delft University of Technology addresses interventions by means of urban design, landscape architecture and spatial planning that must occur at all levels as this process of urbanisation continues. Architects play an important role in determining the design of the built environment. It is primarily their designs that shape our cityscapes, be they residential neighbourhoods, houses, offices, shopping centres, museums, town halls, airports, stadia, or theatres. And design is the principal concern of the Architecture Track's. You will learn how to conceive of and to sketch out building projects from a scientific perspective. In so doing, you will have to strike the right balance between structure, form and function. You’ll come up against both technical and social challenges.
